About Melissa

Melissa graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. Following this, she volunteered through AmeriCorps in Cape Cod.  She continued to fulfill her love for volunteering in Kenya, Africa. While in Africa she began to recognize the vital role nutrition plays in health and well being. Once in the U.S. she pursued an MS in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition and an MPH in Nutrition at Tufts University. After spending a year at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA as a Dietetic Intern, Melissa is now a Public Health Prevention Specialist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA.

As an undergraduate, Melissa was a Division I athlete and captain of her track team. She has run six marathons and in her spare time for the past seven years she has worked at a running store analyzing gait and providing expert advice on training, workout gear and injury prevention. She understands the important role exercise plays in good health, but also respects the challenges in finding time for it.
